HISPANIC OUTREACH/Small Business Administration

In partnership with the Small Business Administration, the VI Small Business Development Center regularly conducts outreach initiatives directed specifically to Hispanic business owners in the Virgin Islands.

This special canvassing type of outreach is to promote the services of both the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Virgin Islands Small Business Development Center in their native language, Spanish. On-line training is also available by visiting the VI SBDC's website at www.sbdcvi.org  and logging in to the On-line Training modules in collaboration with the Pennsylvania SBDC.

VI DEPARTMENT OF LABOR

As a certified provider for the VI Department of Labor, if eligible through their specialized benefits programs, you are now able to utilize your DOL benefits to participate in VI SBDC's trainings.
Some of the training programs available are: Starting Your Business in the VI, Money Matters, Small Business Management Program, Profit Mastery, and NxLevel: How to Write a Business Plan. You can view these programs and their description at our GET GROWING module on our webpage. SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

The Small Business Administration (SBA) in collaboration with the VI Small Business Development Center offers entrepreneurial training programs and informational seminars throughout the year. Some of these are:

7J Management & Technical Assistance Program:

The 7J Program provides industry specific technical assistance and entrepreneurial training.

Monthly SBA Training on Access to Capital:

7(a) Loan Program
SBA Express Loan Program
504 Loan Program
Small Loan Advantage Program
Export Working Capital Loans

Veteran's Program:

The SBA Veteran's Program ensures that small businesses owned and controlled by eligible veterans have access to entrepreneurial training, business development assistance, finance and management assistance and counseling.

Annual Matchmaking:

The annual business matchmaking event allows small businesses to discuss procurement opportunities with local and federal agencies. During the event, small businesses are given an opportunity to have face-to-face meetings with local and federal agencies contracting officers.

Disaster Assistance Program:

The Disaster Assistance Program is the primary federal program for funding long-range recovery for private sector non-agricultural disaster victims. This program provides assistance to businesses of all sizes and to individuals.

Small Business Week:

Small Business Week is a joint collaboration between the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) that acknowledges and recognizes the accomplishments of local small businesses.

VI HOUSING AUTHORITY

The Virgin Islands Small Business Development Center is collaborating with the VI Housing Authority by providing training to their residents, such as Starting a Business in the Virgin Islands and Money Management Training. These are offered to residents eligible through their Resident Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency ( ROSS) program. 

What Is The ROSS Program?

The Resident Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency Service Program (ROSS) is a FREE program designed to support public housing residents in increasing their earned income and moving towards economic and housing self-sufficiency. ROSS staff members work directly with residents to support them in their education, employment and self-sufficiency goals. The program relies on partnerships with community organizations that assist families in accessing services that will increase their quality of life. These services may include parenting classes, financial literacy classes, life skills classes and many others.
